Born and raised in St. Louis, Mike carried with him the Midwestern values of humility, hard work, and hospitality. His journey to Washington in 1993 marked the beginning of a distinguished career that saw him navigate through roles on Capitol Hill, at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and in top advisory roles within the realms of financial services policy. Mike's approach to leadership was unique; he led with kindness, humor, and an inclusivity that drew people together, fostering environments of collaboration and mutual respect.
His involvement in the community went beyond casual participation. Mike was a pillar within the Holy Trinity Parish, serving on the Parish Council and embodying the values of faith and service that were so important to him. Mike's dedication to public service was also evident in his three-term tenure on the DC Board of Elections. In this role, he was instrumental in upholding the democratic process, ensuring integrity, diligence, and fairness were at the forefront of every decision.
Friends and colleagues remember Mike not only for his professional contributions but for the personal impact he had on their lives. His ability to balance a demanding career while being a present, loving father and friend was something that resonated with many. Mike's approach to life, characterized by an open door and an open heart, left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kristina, their children, Sean, Brian, and Annika; his mother, Suzanne Lutz Gill; his brother Brian (Dianne) and their children Jack and Michael; his sister Molly Kelly (Daniel) and their children Danny, Tommy, and Jimmy, and a large, loving extended family.
Mike's sudden departure has left a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy endures through the countless lives he touched. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, February 15th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Trinity Hall, at 3518 O Street NW, Washington, DC. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 16th, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
