

Miguel was born on March 26, 1940, in Manila, Philippines to Miguel B. Cajigal and Josefa G. Evangelista. He was the oldest of six siblings: the late Didi Shirley Grego, the late Afable Cajigal, the late Merlie Parajito, Ronald Cajigal, and Mita Solis.
Miguel attended Mapúa Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1961. He passed the Architecture Licensure Exam (ALE) and worked at the Department of Public Works in Manila. There, he met his wife Corazon Devenecia. They married in 1969 and immigrated to America later that year where they made their home in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Miguel passed the U.S. Architect Registration Examination (ARE) and worked at Bechtel in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He had an architecture license in Maryland with reciprocities in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Later in his career, he left Bechtel and worked for a private architecture office until his retirement.
Miguel loved travel, classic movies, books, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, The Platters, and The Beatles. He played the saxophone, piano, guitar, and ukulele. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs, whom he loved dearly as family. He was a fan of UCLA basketball, the Celtics, and the Redskins. Known by many as “Mike,” “Uncle Boy,” “Manong Boy,” and “Grampi,” Miguel had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Corazon, his children Miguel and Christina, his two granddaughters Mikaela and Aeribella, and his daughter-in-law Helen Lorraine Currier-Cajigal.
Miguel was a man of great integrity, compassion, authenticity, humor, and humility. He will be truly missed.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the next day, Wed. May 14, 2025 starting at 12:00PM at St. Martin Catholic Church, Gaithersburg, MD; followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery, Germantown, MD.
