

It is with sadness that we announce Neil A. Gallagher Sr. passed away on July 27, 2024, at his
residence in Bethesda, Md. at the age of 91. Neil was born on September 15, 1932, in Scranton,
Pa., to John and Catherine (nee Walsh) Gallagher.
Neil’s enthusiasm for life was firmly rooted in his Christian faith. He was always quick to pray
and encourage others. Neil will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Raised in Carbondale, Pa., he served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his military
service, he went on to graduate from The University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration.
As an executive with ITT, Neil’s corporate career culminated in his role as President and General
Manager of ITT Industries Night Vison in Roanoke, Va. In 1989, Neil received the Harold S.
Geneen Award for his excellence in management and leadership.
In 2006 The University of Scranton and the Alumni Association selected Neil as one of the
Frank O’Hara Award recipients for his professional achievements.
Neil was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Miriam, his daughter
Elizabeth Rulison, and brother John P. Gallagher. He is survived by his children, Neil (Kay),
Brian (Cindy) and daughter Christine Sackett (Dean). Grandchildren, Kristin Rulison, Michael
Rulison (Lizzie), Neil B. Gallagher (Jordan), Sara Gallagher, Katie George (Scott), Will
Gallagher, Luke Sackett (Alli), Charles Sackett, Amanda Sackett and great-granddaughter
Mackenzie Paige Gallagher.
