

Nelson Clair Denlinger, 82, of Bethesda, MD passed away suddenly on Saturday September 26, 2020. He was known for his generosity, witty sense of humor, deep commitment to his wife Ruth Stubbs Denlinger, and an extensive network of family and friends.
Originally from Lancaster PA, he was the youngest of six children. He received his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall University and a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. After joining the Army Reserve, he went on to teach history at the Choate School in Connecticut. In 1965, he moved to Washington, DC to join the Neighborhood Youth Corps and USAID. He then joined Hubert Humphrey's staff and later became staff director of the Senate Agriculture Committee. In 1981, he left the hill and went to work for U.S. Wheat Associates until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, collecting wine, gardening, reading, and Bethany Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, two brothers, Leon of York, P.A. and Carl of Philadelphia, PA, numerous devoted nieces, nephews and friends of all ages who already miss him dearly.
Due to the current pandemic, the family is having a small private service with Zoom link.
