

Robert William Baker, Sr. “Bobby”, 67, of Rockville, MD, passed away suddenly on February 3, 2024. Bobby was known for his love of motorcycles, being an avid hunter, and fisherman.
Bobby was born in Bethesda, Maryland on October 30, 1956 to Hazel and Howard Baker Sr. He grew up in Darnestown, Maryland with his four siblings. Bobby was a 1974 graduate of Gaithersburg High School before joining the family business of carpentry. Bobby enjoyed woodworking and developed a skill for designing custom wood furniture. He worked on numerous home renovation projects for notable clients in the D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware areas with various construction companies over the years. He earned a few Master Craftsman certificates for woodworking as well.
Bobby married Mary Beth Schrock in June of 1983. They had two children, Jessica and Robert Jr. Bobby taught Jessica how to drive in crazy D.C. traffic and Robert the ways of the outdoors with hunting and fishing. Bobby used to take annual trips to Grantsville, MD and Spotsylvania, VA to hunt turkey and deer with his close family friends. He was proud of his black bear, deer, and citation fish. Bobby loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and owned a few throughout his life. After he and Mary went their separate ways, he continued riding on the scenic back roads with his close friends and family.
Bobby will always be remembered for his smile and laughter at a good joke. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Hazel L. Baker and Howard U. Baker Sr. of Belleair, Florida. He is survived by Bonnie Kessell (Danny), Connie Bashop (Ronnie), Howard U. Baker Jr. (Cindy), Charles “Andy” Baker (Carol), Mary Beth Baker, Jessica Walker (Jonny), Robert Baker Jr. (Sarah Pim), Robert Baker III, many nieces and nephews, as well as, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10 am at DeVol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg, MD (10 East Deer Park Rd.). A reception will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3509 at 11:15 am (211 N. Frederick Ave. Suite #950 Gaithersburg, MD 20877).
