Robert “Bob” Perrelli, 91, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2025. Born on September 7, 1934, in Dundalk, Maryland; Bob was the beloved son of Mary DeLuca Perrelli and Frank Perrelli. He grew up in Dundalk alongside his older sister, Catherine Perrelli Bragg, and older brother, Albert Perrelli.
Bob was a proud graduate of Loyola High School in Towson, Class of 1952, and went on to earn his degree from Loyola College in Towson in 1956. Bob developed a deep love for aviation and was an avid pilot for many years—until, as family lore lovingly recounts, his wife convinced him it was time to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
On December 30, 1967, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Hartman Perrelli, beginning a marriage marked by devotion, partnership, and shared faith that endured for nearly six decades.
Bob spent his professional career at the Social Security Administration, where he worked as a Medical Analyst until his retirement in 1996. Service to others continued to define his life well beyond retirement; for 18 years, Bob volunteered with Mission of Mercy, offering compassion, time, and support to those in need. Bob was a devout Catholic and his beliefs guided the way he lived and served others.
Bob was a devoted father to Jean Perrelli (Kevin Delaney) and Christina Perrelli Mazzanti (Christopher Mazzanti); loving grandfather of Matthew Mazzanti, Anna Mazzanti (Patrick Haney), and Keegan Delaney. Bob took immense pride in his children and grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments and company.
Bob was known for his love of food—especially Italian cuisine—and for his unwavering belief that no one should ever leave his presence hungry. His kitchen and table were places of generosity, laughter, and warmth. He also spent summers in Ocean City, Maryland, treasuring time with his family on the beach.
Bob will be remembered for his faith, kindness, service to others, and deep love for family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and the example of generosity and devotion he set throughout his life.
