Born in Kensington, Maryland, on March 12, 1948, Sandy was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. She graduated from Albert Einstein Senior High School in 1966, then earned degrees in Elementary Education and English from Frostburg State College in 1970. She furthered her education with a master’s degree in Elementary Mathematics Education from the University of Maryland-College Park in 1978.
Sandy dedicated 33 years to Montgomery County Public Schools, serving as an elementary and junior high school teacher before becoming a principal. She retired in 2003 as the respected principal of Luxmanor Elementary School in Rockville.
Beyond her professional life, Sandy had many passions. She cherished family vacations, creating dolls and candles, and solving math puzzles. Her vacation home in Bradenton, Florida, was a special retreat, and she loved spending time with her family and watching sunsets.
Sandy was a devoted wife to Terence for nearly 50 years, a loving mother to Terence (Randi) and Lisa (Brandon), and a cherished grandmother to TJ and Shane. She is also survived by her brother, Lawrence Russell Berry Jr. (Ann), and many cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Russell Berry and Ethel Clark Berry, and her sister, Denise Lynn Berry.
A true friend to all, Sandy's legacy of love and kindness will live on through the countless lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 3-8 pm at the clubhouse at Bretton Woods Recreation Center, 15700 River Road, Germantown, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Syringomyelia & Chiari Alliance Project (ASAP) through Molly Lichtenstein’s Walk and Roll for a Cure, an event at Bretton Woods that Sandy proudly supported each September. www.mollysasapmissions.org
