Stephanie was born in New York City and raised in Abington, PA. She attended Abington High School and graduated from Lafayette College with a bachelor’s degree in French, sparking a lifelong love of French language and culture. Prior to moving to Washington, DC in 2015 Stephanie and her husband, Lawrence, resided in Darien, CT for 20 years.
Stephanie was passionate about travel, art, music, and perfecting her mastery of the French language. She loved an occasion to celebrate and always said “yes” to a fun party. Above all, her love for her family and friends was her North Star. She will be remembered as a loyal friend and a caring, compassionate mother. Her proudest accomplishment was becoming a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren and “Fifi” took the greatest joy in buying adorable outfits for all of them.
Stephanie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lawrence; her children Michael Flanagan of Woodbridge, VA, Catherine Altman of Bethesda, MD and Brendan Flanagan of Washington, DC; as well as her loving grandchildren Lydia Altman, Claire Altman, Summer Flanagan and Shea Flanagan. Stephanie is also survived by her sisters Gretchen Van Buren of Rydal Park, PA. and Elizabeth DiMedio of Collingswood, NJ. Her parents, Richard Clark Burket and Joan Platt Schuler, are deceased.
