In addition to being a professional artist, Steven had 20 years of experience in the nonprofit, philanthropy, and government sectors. He worked for Arlington County, VA in the Arlington Cultural Affairs Division for nearly 16 years, first as the Grants Officer managing the grant program for the arts, which supports arts organizations and individual artists, and then as the Director of the Lee Arts Center for 12 years.
Steven’s print studio Midway Bee, comes from a quote from Hesiod's Works and Days, "The earth bore much substance, on the mountains the oak at its top yielded acorns and midway bees." Bees, gardening and oak trees have long been an interest and presence in Steven's life. Please take a moment to review his work at Midway Bee or via Instagram: @midwaybee
Donations in Steven’s name can be made to City Blossoms, a nonprofit organization where he actively volunteered and served on the board of directors for more than 10 years.
Celebration of life gatherings are being planned for Washington, DC, and New Mexico.
