Taunia was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1947 to Ralph and Betty Ewing. The family relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia near the end of her father’s Naval career where she would eventually meet her future beloved husband, Phillip. After graduating from Kempsville High School, she completed beautician school and specialized in wig styling. She loved to draw and paint, decorate her home, and bring smiles to children whenever and wherever she saw them. Being a grandmother (“Nana”) gave her tremendous joy throughout her life.
Taunia is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Phillip Wayne Foster, sister Patricia Daniels, brother Rodney Ewing, and parents. She is survived by her daughters Lori Anne (Foster) Boocks (Stephen) and Amy Darlene (Foster) Russo (James), her much-loved granddaughter, Heather Leigh Boocks, and sister, Roberta Moss.
Per her request, there will not be a funeral or memorial service held. She will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia with her husband.
The family is sincerely grateful to Casey House (Montgomery Hospice) for their compassion and comfort during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Norfolk at rmhcnorfolk.org/donate-now or by mail to 404 Colley Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23507.
