Passed unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Washington DC. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen McGrath and her husband Glenn of Hebron, Ct and John and Kate Walsh of Fairfax, Va. Bill was also a loving uncle to four Nieces and Nephews; Glenn, Erin, Ian & Blair as well as 4 great Nieces and nephews, each of whom was his favorite.
Bill was born in Bronx, NY to the late Jack and Beatrice Walsh and grew up in King of Prussia, Pa. He graduated Maxima Cum laude from Lasalle College and received his law degree from Antioch College in 1976
Bill was a preeminent international human rights attorney as well as one of the foremost experts in FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) litigation. He was a member of the U.S. State Department Advisory Working Group on Religious Freedom. As well as Vice Chair, Policy, on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Religion and Public Policy, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, inter-religious organization.
There will be no formal Funeral Services, however, a celebration of Bills life will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Tx 75231
