

SAVANNAH-Mrs. Mary B. “Nancy” Ellis, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at The Savannah Cottage in Savannah. She was born in Lisbon, Maine on March 15, 1923. Nancy was of the Catholic faith and attended Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes in Pt. Wentworth.
In 1943, Nancy joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was eventually stationed in San Francisco, CA. It was there on April 1, 1945, that she married the love of her life, a sailor, Douglas R. Ellis, Jr. from Savannah. They were married for many, many years until Doug’s death in 1997.
For most of her adult life, Nancy was a homemaker. There were a few years where Nancy worked outside the home. Some may remember her working the cosmetics department of a local pharmacy in Garden City.
Nancy is survived by a son, Wayne Ellis (Marcy) of Savannah, a daughter, Cathy Bevill (Kenny) of Richmond Hill, four grandchildren, Jennifer Cannady (John) of Savannah, Janet Grider (Eric) of Honolulu, HI, Trey Davis and Taylor Davis of Richmond Hill, four great grandchildren, Cassidy and Joshua Cannady, Jack and Charlie Grider and her dear friend , Anna Betz.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Garden City Chapel.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Savannah Cottage for their excellent care, love, and devotion of Nancy for the last three years.
