

A native of Angleton, Texas, former resident of Louisiana, devoted mother and wife, Savannah tour guide, Mary Kay beauty consultant, member of the Chatham County Democratic Committee, 2011 chair of the Toby Buttimer Awards Dinner, recently appointed board member of Savannah Feed the Hungry and an organ donor, she died peacefully at home in Garden City, Georgia on Friday, February 10, 2012, at age 52, surrounded by her beloved daughters Caroline and Christine Couvillon and her husband J.J. (Jean-Jacques) Bellemare, who all will carry on her legacy of leadership and compassion.
She is also survived by her brothers and sister David Humphrey (Jo Ann), Ben Humphrey (Cherie), Jack Humphrey (Peggy) and Susan Wistrand (Tom), her nieces and nephews Katherine Lollar, Richard Humphrey (Carey), Jason, Joshua, Eric and Heather, her great-nephew Michael Hargis, several in-laws, including her father-in-law Jacques Bellemare, her mother-in-law Hélène Beaudry Bellemare, J.J.’s grandmother Margot and countless friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Louie Humphrey, her mother Opal Collins Humphrey and her brother Jim Humphrey of Prairieville, Louisiana.
Following her wishes, she will be cremated by the Fairhaven Funeral Home and Crematory, 2794 U.S. Highway 80 West, Garden City, Georgia. A modest testimony will be held in her honor at the beginning of the Chatham County Democratic Committee meeting on Monday, February 13 at 6 pm at the Mulberry Inn, 601 East Bay Street, Savannah, Georgia. A religious ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 16 at 7 pm at the Feed the Hungry Life Center, 4011 Augusta Road, Garden City, with the Rev. Carl Gilliard, celebrant.
