Mr. Raymond H. Hollingsworth

Ray Hollingsworth, cherished husband, and loving Papa went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2011. Ray was a member of Countryside Baptist Church in Guyton GA and served many years as one of their ushers. He was born in Arcola, GA, January 2, 1935. In his young life, he helped his parent’s farm in Candler County. In 1954, Ray moved to Savannah where he met his loving wife of 55 years, Janell Clark. Ray was the proud father of four children, Papa to 10 loving grandchildren and 12 wonderful great-grandchildren. He worked for Claussen’s baker, and was sales supervisor for Coastal Beverage before establishing Savannah Transport in 1987. Ray will be remembered by all who knew him for his winning smile and great sense of humor. He was a kind man and never met a stranger, only potential friends. Heaven is surely enlarged by his presence, but this earth is diminished by his passing.

Preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Annabell Hollingsworth, brother Clarence Hollingsworth, and sisters Margaret Tippett Cates, and Mary Earlene Romano.

Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janell Clark Hollingsworth. Children Cynthia A. Christie (Charles E.), William E. Hollingsworth Sr. (Janet C.), Raymond T. Hollingsworth (Terese S.) and Wanda Ellis (Charles). Grandchildren, Jeresia, Cory, Kristen, Billy, Kevin, Melanie, Karri, Tessa, Franklin, and Angela. Great-Grandchildren, Michael, Alec, Christian, Aiden, Abigael, Angel, Stella, Camila, McKenzie, Madison, Taylor & Steven. Brother, Bennie E. Hollingsworth (Emily) and Sister, Arlita Gooding (Larry). Uncle of many . Nephew of Mae Morris.

Pallbearers: Billy Hollingsworth, Kevin Hollingsworth, Michael Steade, Alec Steade, Darren Hollingsworth, and Bert Solomon.

Visitation: Monday, January 2, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the Countryside Baptist Church, Guyton, GA.

Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Meldrim, GA.
