

Born in Daisy, Georgia on May 3, 1923, to the late Francis Howard Young and Essie Alberta Tippins, she has lived most of her life in Pooler. A devoted wife, a caring sister, and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was an avid reader and loved to hunt and fish with family members. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Union Camp in 1980, after 35 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Preston Wallace Bacon; two sisters; Gerry Towles and Bonnie Phillips; a brother, Buell Young and nephews: Kenny Towles and Danny Phillips.
Survivors: sister-in-law: Sara Young; nieces: Judy Phelps (Bryan) of Plymouth, NC., Jackie Carver (Jerry) of Pooler, GA., Bobbie Collis (Terry) of Lake Oconee, GA, Patricia McGraw of Ellabell, GA., Carolyn McCormick of Mirianna, FL., and Norma Carney (Jack) of Richmond Hill, GA; nephews: Alfred (Buddy) Owens of Savannah, GA., Larry Young (Holly) of Pooler, GA., Robert Phillips of Milledgeville, GA., Gary Phillips of Midway, GA., Archie Towles (Jeannie) of Lauderhill, FL., and Jimmy Towles (Betty) of Mountain, TN.; other relatives and special friends: Maurice Dunaway and Nancy Beasley.
Visitation with family and friends from 1 – 2 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 26, 2011, at the Fairhaven Funeral Home & Crematory.
