William Edward McGowan

William Edward McGowan-Pooler- Mr. William “Ed” McGowan, 68 passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. Ed was born in Savannah to the late Bill McGowan and Mary Ruth McGowan Bledsoe. He was also preceded in death by one brother James McGowan.

Ed was employed by Shearouse Lumber Company for 39 years before his retirement in 2012 . He was also a member of the Community Watch Program in Pooler and acted as a Security Guard for Life Springs Church in Bloomingdale, Georgia.

Mr. McGowan is survived by one sister, Billy Jean Freeman (Barry) and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Fairhaven Funeral Home Garden City Chapel. Graveside services will be 2 pm Friday at Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst, Georgia. Remembrances may be given to the charity of your choice.
