May 23, 1925 – November 19, 2021
Dolores Sederquist was a gentle, loving, intelligent and charmingly witty soul born in San Diego, CA to Harold & Helen Main on May 23, 1925. She left this earth on November 19, 2021, and joined her precious parents, sister (Barbara Hagerty) husband (Kenneth), and daughter (Linda Marie) who preceded her in death. After moving to Cerritos in 1968 with her husband Kenneth, she became a long-time member of the Artesia-Cerritos United Methodist Church. Her life was deeply grounded in her faith and love of God.
Together Kenneth and Dolores had 8 beautiful daughters during Kenneth’s 30-year Naval career. Carole Irene (San Diego), Kathryn Jean (Albany, OR), Donna June (Huntington Beach), Mary Ellen (St. George, UT), Helen Ann (Orange), Ann Elizabeth (Orange), Linda Marie (Georgetown, TX, deceased) and Janet Suzann (Kirkland, WA). She delighted in everything with her girls and cherished trips to the beach, picnics, shopping, movies and recently celebrated her 95th & 96th birthdays with large family picnics. Dolores was an avid follower of world events, often participating in lively discussions about politics, local and state activities and had a continuously curious mind. There wasn’t any topic that she shied away from. She was loved by all who were fortunate to know her and welcomed many son-in-laws into the family with open arms. Her son-in-laws include Gerry Bailey (Donna), Phillip Durgin (Mary), Howard Eglett (Helen), Bahram Khyltash (Ann) and John Gustainis (Linda). She delighted in her 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who called her Grandma-the-Great!
Dolores had many friends throughout her life and recently made new friends who quickly became her extended family at Oakmont of Orange. She cherished her time in her new “nest” as she called it and delighted in her freedom and new-found interests. The family’s sense of loss is profound. She was their North Star and Safe Harbor, a place of never-ending love and compassion. God blessed her friends and family with 96 wonderful years so while the loss is deep, the joy of her life and who she was will remain forever. The family wishes to thank the Artesia-Cerritos United Methodist Church, the Joy Belle’s and Oakmont of Orange staff and residents for their love and kindness.
