Nenita Cuenca Malibiran (“Nene”) was born on August 4,1944 to Marciana Laag Tulio Cuenca & Domingo Toledo Cuenca. She had two brothers (Fred Cuenca and Roger Robles) and two sisters (Flor and Pura Cuenca). She is survived by her older sister (Raquel Cuenca Aguinaldo) and her younger brother (Ernesto Robles).
Nene was surrounded by a large family throughout her life, and she made friends with everyone she encountered. She was very welcoming and inclusive. Nene has helped many in her lifetime, from providing meals and living arrangements to relatives and friends, to getting people connected. She was helpful, supportive, nurturing, a great confidante, and was just an incredible woman with a huge heart. Many also referred to Nene as “Mother” or “Mommy”.
Nene was a great historian and funny storyteller. She was very much animated when she told her stories, whether it’s the first or tenth time you’ve heard them. Her memory was amazing and was so intact. She remembered details, names, dates, and places. Nene was an exceptional cook and could feed an army battalion with scrumptious dishes, and all would say everything she cooked and served was delicious.
She passed away in her family home in Olongapo City, Philippines. She was surrounded by one of her oldest daughters, several of her closest family and friends, and the rest of her children through Facetime. Nene was 78 years old. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rodrigo “Rudy” Capili Malibiran. She is survived by her six children (Bobby, Jing, Ronette, Rod, Raquel, and Joyce), 8 grandchildren (Kim, Karen, Dino, Ryann, Cole, Riley, Kingston, and Brooklyn), 7 great-grandchildren (Alani, AJ, Alyssa, Knox, Phoenix, Ace, and Pharaoh), and their families.
