

Ruth Shirley Sherman, 94, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on July 28, 1931, in Buffalo, New York, Ruth lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and the dignity of hard work. She resided in Stanton, California.
Ruth attended East Aurora High School in East Aurora, New York, where she graduated. From her earliest years, she carried forward a practical determination that would shape the way she cared for others and met each season of life with resolve.
Ruth began her working life with Fisher Price Toys in East Aurora, New York. She later devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother, raising her three children with constancy and care. After the passing of her husband, Raymond, Ruth returned to the workforce, serving as a Safe Deposit Box Attendant with Lincoln Savings and later working as a Security Guard at the Rancho Del Rey gated community in Huntington Beach, California. She retired just two months shy of her 90th birthday due to health reasons—an enduring reflection of her work ethic and willingness to do what was needed for those she loved. In addition, she watched and cared for her grandchildren while their parents worked, offering them the kind of steady presence that becomes a lifelong comfort.
On June 27, 1953, Ruth married Raymond Sherman. Ruth carried forward with steadfast devotion to family, holding close the bonds that mattered most. She was the mother of three children: Timothy Sherman, Brian Sherman, and Maureen Sherman Reints. Raymond passed away on May 28, 1988.
Ruth found deep satisfaction in the simple, sustaining joys of home and family. She loved gardening on their 54-acre farm in Marilla, New York, where she grew all kinds of vegetables and flowers. She also treasured time spent with family and friends, offering warmth and welcome in ways that were felt more than spoken.
Ruth lived a long and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Ruth is preceded in passing by her husband, Raymond Sherman; her sisters, Joan Conklin and Alverta Tyler; her brother-in-law, Thomas Tyler, and her grandson, Joshua Sherman. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Sherman and Brian Sherman (Corina); her daughter, Maureen Sherman Reints; her grandchildren, Nathan Zilak, Adam Sherman (Kim), Brianna Sherman Alcala (David), Justin (Alejandra) and Jordan Reints (Leslie); her great grandchildren, Jayden, Sophia, Athena, Phoenix and Luke Reints; Grant, Nolan and Baby Boy Sherman (due September 2026); King and Kinzley Alcala. Ruth was known as "Mom" to Kelly Sherman, Billie Jo Reints, Laura Newman and Lisa Stone. She was known as "Gram" to Shane Stone, Marilyn Miranda, Gazelle Miranda and Niko Yazon.
