Sondra was born on November 23, 1973 to Reginald Fuqua and Jacquelyn Thompson. She grew up in Lynwood, CA & attended Mark Twain Elementary, Hosler Jr High & Lynwood High School. She graduated from Ontario High School.
We called her Sandy when she was a little girl but later, she picked up her unique signature spelling, “Sandee”.
She was very close with her cousins Micki & Zernell and her Uncle Iran. They grew up in the same household. They were more like siblings. They, along with her other cousins, remained close throughout adulthood.
She was a happy, loving & caring person. Always smiling & spreading joy. She loved people and always looked for the best in everyone. She especially loved family, whether they were blood or chosen.
Sandee grew up on her grandma’s cooking and when Granny became unable to stand up & cook, Sandee would stand at the stove and take direction from her. That’s how she learned to make Granny’s signature Gumbo and Jambalaya. Sandee became an excellent cook, and she loved doing it. Thus, she became our Family Day cook for 17 years.
On March 16, 2024, God took Sandee by the hand and led her to join her grandmother, Betty Jane Thompson; her cousin, Zernell Hayes; her brother, Reginald Fuqua Jr. and her paternal grandparents, Lloyd & Dorothy Fuqua in eternal life.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her mother, Jackie Wells; her father, Reggie Fuqua; her brother, Ryan Fuqua; Uncle Bobby & Auntie Georgia; Aunt Lorraine; Uncle Iran & Aunt Karmen; First cousins Scott, Loncee, Jamie, Miquel, Chantell, Kearya, & Breyon; and a host of second cousins, nieces & nephews and chosen family.
