Ben graduated from Gastonia High School, attended Belmont Abbey College, and proudly served our country in the US Navy aboard the USS Albany, a ‘heavy cruiser’. He was a member of the Gastonia Masonic Lodge. Benjamin was a devoted husband to Shirley T. Wilson and father to Jonathan Mark, Benjamin Logan, Jr., and Teresa Virginia (Gina). He was a salesman at heart, owned and operating his own auto dealership for over 30 years. Before launching Garrison Auto Sales, he worked for dealerships in Charlotte, then for Armstrong Datsun/Nissan in Gastonia.
He thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings, taking his wife out, playing with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his early years, he enjoyed taking to the road and hitch-hiking as far south as Louisiana. He also spoke very fondly of the “world travels experience” courtesy of the US Navy.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Clyde E. Wilson; mother, Virginia Hardin Wilson Gordon; brother Clyde E. Wilson, Jr.; and daughter, Teresa Virginia (Gina) Wilson.
He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Mark Wilson and his wife, Lorri McDowell Wilson and Benjamin Logan Wilson, Jr.; grandchildren, Brad Wilson, Paris Wilson and Jonathan Wilson; great grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Browning Wilson and Asher Wilson.
