She is preceded in passing by her parents, Melvin and Lucille Ruff; two sisters, Marie Summey Mcswain and Amelia “Roni” Wells and three brothers, Richard, Michael Daniel, and Charles Ruff.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Huffman of Cramerton, NC; sons, Larry Bernasconi of Cramerton, NC and Stephen Bernasconi of Kitchener, CA; grandson, Preston Huffman of Cramerton, NC; brother, James Ruff of Dallas, NC, and many loving nieces and nephews .
Betty lived her life, loving and serving God with all of her heart, mind and soul.
She was quiet and shy but strong. Betty lived a remarkable life growing up in Gastonia, working as a model in NYC, and settling back in her hometown to raise a family with her husband Lawrence Bernasconi.
Her kindness was legendary even to those who hardly knew her, and she could beat you at a Scrabble game with a vocabulary seldom equaled.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC with the service beginning at 3:00 pm.
Burial will follow at Long Creek Baptist Church in Dallas, NC.
For everyone’s safety, the family requests that masks be worn at the services.
