Cathey (Pearson) Wilson

Cathey Pearson Wilson 77, passed away at home on January 13th, 2024. She was born in Gaston County on April 25th, 1946 daughter of the late William Frank Pearson and Estell Grant Pearson. Cathey was a wonderful caring and loving person. She was a homemaker and a childcare provider. She loved and took care of many children in her home. She became more than a childcare provider; she was simply maw maw Cathey to them all. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Berea Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, and spending time with her family and friends. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Cathey truly loved her and knew what it was like to be loved unconditionally.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Harvey Joseph Wilson, her brothers, Frank Pearson, Charles Pearson, and Kenneth Pearson; and her sisters, Opal Pearson Beatty and Marie Pearson Arrowood.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her sister, Trudy Pearson Chester and husband Kirk; her daughter and caretaker DeAnn Wilson Cummings and husband Justin; her stepdaughter Dayna Wilson-Crowley and husband Gene; her 5 grand children, Brittney Robinson, Courtney Wilson, Emma Weldon, Ashley Ferguson, JD Ferguson; her 6 great grand children; along with 67 nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Cathey’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday January 19, 2024 at Carothers Funeral Home, 205Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 10:00 am. Cathey will be buried at Gaston Memorial Park immediately following the celebration of life service. Pastor Rick Ivy, of Berea Baptist Church, will officiate and he will offer words of comfort and hope to her family and friends that gather to remember Cathey.
