On Tuesday, December 12, 2017, Cecile Frisbee Farmer, of Gastonia, received an offer she couldn’t refuse, and humbly accepted her new assignment. She found her peace at Caromont Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. This new role comes with eternal heavenly benefits, and a blessed reunion with family and friends, those she is now celebrating with for the first time in many, many years.
We were able to learn many valuable lessons from Cecile during her 82 years. Among them: always eat a salted slice of onion (with a cup of milk) before bed. Keep a pair of fake buck teeth handy in your purse… just in case. Constantly be the fiercest prayer warrior for your grandchildren, children, husband, daughter-in-laws, and multitude of adopted and extended children, family, and friends. Naturally be the life of the party, wherever you are. Be prepared to roll your eyes like Eddie Cantor. Always have a prank (or two… or three) up your sleeve at any given moment. Be joyful in all things, incredibly loving, and full of the spirit.
A quintessential author, Cecile made everyone feel like family by thoughtfully including a personal poem, passage or prayer in every beautiful card and letter she wrote. She was known to show the true meaning of fellowship through her exceptional cooking and heartwarming dishes. A teacher to many, both in and out of the classroom, she showed her love for others by daily acts of service, compassion and humor.
Cecile is the daughter of the late Thomas Alfred Frisbee and Maggie (Justice) Frisbee. Cecile was preceded in death by brothers, Doyle Frisbee, Henry Frisbee, Thomas Frisbee, Jessie Frisbee, Emmitt Frisbee, Floyd Frisbee, Clearman Frisbee and sisters, Lois Holland and Dorthy Frisbee.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 60 years, Ray Farmer and sons Timothy Ray Farmer and wife Georgia of Richmond, Virginia, and Brent Eric Farmer and wife Jill of Gastonia. Also surviving Cecile are her sisters Trula Mae “Trudy” Long of Marion, and sisters-in-law Myrtle Frisbee, of Sedro Woolley, WA and Ester Lee Frisbee of Waynesville, NC. Carrying on their grandmother’s legacy are her grandchildren, Shera Farmer, Sy Farmer, Kenzie Clark and husband Alex, and Celia Farmer. Her crown will not hold all of the heavenly jewels, based on her life in the church and the thousands of youth, groups, friends and all other lives in which she made a difference.
The family will receive friends for 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday December 15, 2017 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia.
A Celebration of Life for Cecile will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 16, 2017 at Westview Baptist Church, 3385 Fairview Drive, Gastonia. Reverend George Pettigrew and Reverend Jerry Millwood will officiate.
Committal will be in the War Memorial Garden of Gaston Memorial Park, following the Celebration of Life Service.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Cecile’s name to Westview Baptist Church and her most beloved organizations, The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and Annie Armstrong Offering. https://www.youcaring.com/cecilefarmer-1042900?utm_campaign=buttonshare&utm_medium=url&utm_source=copy&utm_content=cf_cp_01
