
Donald (Don) Curtis Holloway, 61, of Dallas passed away on March 2, 2016 at home. Donald was born in Gaston County on June 28, 1954 to Willis and the late Lilly Alene Overcash Holloway.
Donald honorably served his country in the United States Army including overseas service in Okinawa, Japan and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Metal. He was retired from the NC Department of Transportation and was proud of his service to the State. Donald was a member of Ranlo Baptist Church and was firmly steadfast in his faith during his prolonged illness.
Donald loved fishing and all kinds of automobile racing including NASCAR and drag racing. He will be remembered for his big heart, his easy-going nature, his pleasant personality, and his love of family. He remained optimistic throughout his illness and as such inspired many.
Donald is survived by his parents: Willis Holloway and stepmother Shirley Sailors; sister, Sherry and her husband Billy Long; step-brothers, Derek Sailors along with Greg and wife Krystal Sailors; aunt, Carolyn and husband Jack Barker; uncles, Fred and wife Nellie Overcash and Dan and wife Gloria Overcash; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Ray and Betty McAllister and Crystal Riley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Ranlo Baptist Church, 1517 Spencer Mountain Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054 with the Reverend Matt Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Hospice of Gaston County especially to Tammy Rhyne and Cindy Mitchell, to Ranlo Baptist Church, and to the Reverend Matt Thomas.
