Elsie Heavener Kenley passed away quietly at her home on February 19, 2017 with her caregivers by her side. She was born in Gaston County on October 2, 1924 to the late Miles and Zona (Mauney) Heavener. Elsie was an accomplished pianist and organist and served as organist in many of the area churches. She served as the office manager of Pinnix Construction Company during Mr. R. H. Pinnix’s lifetime. In addition to her love of animals and particularly her household pets, Elsie loved working in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Christian “J.C.” Kenley and brother, Miles S. Heavener.
A private graveside service was conducted by her Pastor, the Rev. Richard C. Lewis, Jr. of Pisgah ARP Church where Elsie last served as organist. A private burial was accorded at her request at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.
Left to cherish her memory include her cousins, friends and caregivers, Liz, Pam, Leslie, Lynn and Lacey.
