Rev. Eugene Durell Bailey

Reverend Eugene Durell Bailey, 84, of Gastonia lived by these words. Gene loved to share about his Lord and Savior. Gene loved his family and the people at his church. He was always fixing stuff. He was mechanically minded and he taught a number of others his trade – diesel mechanics. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife; Delia Marciel Bailey, his parents Ora Lee Sorrells Bailey and Tallie Comer Bailey, a son Tony Branch, two sisters Minnie Lee Bailey Ensley and Betty Ruth Morris and three grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Cindy Chastain of Belmont, Rodger and wife Wanda Branch of Belmont, Jeff and wife Ann Branch of Belmont, Ray and wife Cindy Branch of Belmont, his sister Mary Ann Packett of Belmont and his nephew, Ronnie Graham, who he loved like a son, as well as many other nieces and nephews.

Gene also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday October 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carothers in Gastonia. A Celebration of his life will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park on Thursday October 6, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the chapel. Internment with full military honors will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
