Frances Elizabeth Alexander Edwards

A devoted Christian who was involved in her church both in Gastonia and Okeechobee, Florida and a lady who loved her Lord… Frances Elizabeth Edwards, age 95 went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, November 7, 2016 from Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville, North Carolina. Frances was an outgoing person and was a person who people loved to be around. Through her tough times through life, she stayed positive and overcame the adversities of life. She came from a humble rural upbringing and is now leaving that legacy to her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to continue to follow. Frances worked as a retail sales representative for over 40 years.

She was the daughter of the late Charles R. Alexander and Flora Yarborough Alexander. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Merle Lee Edwards who passed away in 1977. One daughter; Catherine Elizabeth “Libby” Wilson; her brother: Charles “Bud” Alexander.

Her loving survivors include one daughter: Patty Edwards-Wells of Taylorsville, North Carolina; two sons and daughters in law: Tommy Charles and Jane Edwards of Gastonia, North Carolina; William Merle and Joellen Edwards of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; two sisters and brother in law: Lucille Pardue of Gastonia, North Carolina; Verna and Bobby Brown of Welcome, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 10, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Ned Buckner bringing words of comfort to her family and friends. Active pallbearers are Sam Wilson, Chris Raley, Chris Hessler, Jeff Alexander, Andy Pardue and Charles Skarpelezos.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM ~ 1:00 PM prior to the service.

Graveside and committal will follow in the Singing Tower Garden at Gaston Memorial Park,1200 South new Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 2024 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28056.
