Fred was born in Scaley, North Carolina, to the late Arthur D. Bryson and Viola Vinson Bryson. He later made his home in Gastonia, North Carolina.
He was one of 12 children, growing up with seven brothers and four sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Robinson Bryson; his son, Michael Bryson; his brothers Arville, Albert, Andrew, Arnold, and Sanford, Dennis; and his sisters Wilma Reed, Lois Gosnell, and Christy Chastain.
He is survived by his sister, Doris Bryson Tallent and family, and his companion, Mavis Floyd and family.
A faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, Fred valued his church community and the friendships he built over the years. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his steady presence, and the many lives he touched.
Fred’s life was a blessing to those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished always.
A visitation will be held on February 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, located at 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054, US.
A funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
