Born in Charlotte, April 6, 1942, Jean was the daughter of the late Ralph and Odell Clontz Huneycutt. Jean grew up in Plaza Midwood, attending Garinger High School, and graduating from Queens College with a major in Business Studies. She was one of the first female directors of Hoechst Celanese operations in Charlotte, working there for 38 years. She tirelessly and happily continued her career for 14 years managing the Technical Yarns Division of Brawer Bros., Inc.
Jean was the youngest member of the Charlotte Symphony at age 16, studying viola and going to the Transylvania Music Camp in Brevard for six summers. She was offered a scholarship in music to Oberlin but chose business instead of a musical career.
In the early ‘80s Jean met her husband, Joe, and they were married, November 16, 1985. She lived with Joe and their cat Buttercup, at Cramer Mountain and enjoyed her neighbors and the club activities. Joe and Jean also shared vacations and holidays with a loving community of friends at their home in Hilton Head.
She had a passion for travel, with her girlfriends, and made many trips including Italy, Africa, Turkey, Greece, and France in April this year. In addition, she traveled regularly to Germany and China on business. New York City was always a special place for Jean. She loved sharing fabulous meals, Broadway shows, shopping, and The Brick Presbyterian Church “Sing a Long” in December.
An unabashed fashionista, she adored shoes, jewelry, makeup, and glamorous dressing. She attributed her early and lasting love of style and fashion to her loving seamstress mother who would make Jean a new dress on a day’s notice.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Lineberger, their granddaughter Ashley Lineberger, and Jean’s step sons: Raymond Lineberger (wife, Kathy; sons, Justin and Eric); Gregory Lineberger (son, Garrett, daughter Ashley) and countless cousins, friends and business associates. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Odell Huneycutt.
Living life with strength and grace, Jean was a loving woman who was loved by many.
