John Michael Hugh Revels

Michael was born on March 18, 1989, in Gaston County.

He is Preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hugh and Polly B. Tilley of Gastonia, NC; and aunt, Victoria Lowrance; paternal grandparents, John Harvey Revels and Jean Houser; great grandparents, Bud and Dorcey Houser; and uncle, Michael Wayne Revels.

Michael loved being outdoors—fishing, hiking, and spending time in the fresh air where he felt most at peace. He was artistic and crafty, always creating something with his hands and seeing the world with a creative eye. Some of his happiest moments were spent playing tetherball with Hallie, whom he loved very much. Their laughter and closeness were a bright part of his life.He will be remembered for his sweet spirit, his creativity, and the love he shared so freely. Though his time here was short, he touched many hearts and will be forever loved.

A visitation will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, located at 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054, on February 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm.

He is survived by his mom, Penny Cabaniss and husband Jamey of Grover, NC; father, John Revels and wife, Pat, of Kings Mountain, NC; girlfriend, Hannah Walden and her daughter, Hallie of Locust, NC; step-brothers, Kurt Snyder and Hunter Cabaniss and his wife, Mackenzie; step sister, Mary Mitchell; aunt, Jackie Roberts of Lancaster, SC; uncle, Douglas “Butch” Tilley of Clover, SC; as well as multiple cousins.

A visitation will be held at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, located at 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054, on February 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm with a committal service to follow immediately after at Gaston Memorial Park located at 1200 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054.
