Mary Elizabeth Patterson

“Who can find a virtuous woman… for her price is far above rubies”… A woman who loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren... Mary Elizabeth Patterson, age 85, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from her residence with her loving family by her side.

Mary was very involved in her church for over 50 years at Woodlawn Baptist. She held various offices as Director of the Nursery, Sunday school and the Prayer Team in her Church.

She was the daughter of the late Dennis Greenwood and Zudie Maybin Greenwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frank Patterson, two brothers: Fraylow Greenwood and George Greenwood; one great-great grandchild Nevaeh Campbell and one brother in law: Darrell Martin.

Those left behind to cherish the memories of Mary are her three daughters and sons in law: Martha Ray of Lowell, Shirley and Harold Falls of Lowell, Frances and Tommy Heavner of Lincolnton; one son: Paul Willard Patterson of Lowell; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; one sister: Thelma Martin of Lowell; two sisters in law: Beth Greenwood and Rosalee Greenwood.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2016 at Carothers Funeral Home Chapel, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054 with Pastor Walt Griggs to deliver words of comfort to the family and friends. Active pallbearers are Rodman Falls, Shane Heavner, Tyler Heavner, Steve Greenwood, Monte McCurry and Kyle McCurry.

Mary’s family will receive friends from 12:00 PM ~ 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Graveside and committal will follow in the Four Seasons Garden at Gaston Memorial Park where Mary will be laid to rest with her husband Frank.

In lieu of flowers the family has request that donations be given in Mary’s memory to the Gaston Hospice 258 East Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
