

Mickie Lee Ferguson, 75, of Lincolnton passed away peacefully at home on November 8, 2021. Mickie was born August 22, 1946 in Wilkes County, NC. He proudly served his country in The United States Marine Corps committing two tours during the Vietnam War. Mickie retired from Carolina Freight in Cherryville after dedicating 32 years of service as a diesel mechanic. He was an active Vietnam Veteran, member of the Cherryville American Legion Post 100 and avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider. Mickie humbly helped others and never expected anything in return. Mickie was a father, grandfather, brother, favorite uncle, best friend and mentor to all of his family, friends and anyone he met. He will forever hold a very special place in the hearts of his family and those fortunate enough to have known him. All that knew and loved him will dearly miss him.
Mickie was the son of the late Myrtle Lee (Stines) Ferguson and Rufus Benjamin Ferguson, Sr. His son, Mickie Lee Ferguson, Jr. preceded him in death along with his brothers, Rufus Ferguson, Jr., Bill Ferguson and Harvey Ferguson.
Left to cherish memories of Mickie are his daughter Chrissy McDaniel, her husband Mike and his grandchildren, Anna, Josh and Alex McDaniel. Mickie also leaves behind six sisters – Janet Ferguson, Christine Dye, Sarah Lane, Cindy Nantz, Daphne Ferguson and Bonnie Gunter.
Reverend Kenneth Caldwell will officiate the service celebrating the life of Mickie to be held at 3:00 PM on Friday November 12, 2021 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. Full military honors accorded by The United States Marine Corp and the Gaston County Honor Guard will be rendered during the celebration of life service.
The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
