Naomi Johnson Eason-Mauldin, 84, went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2015. She was born in Gaston County, January 31, 1931 to the late Robert and Lola Johnson. Naomi was a minister of Jesus Christ for over 50 years all the way up until her death, praying for each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Souls Harbor Tabernacle for over 30 years where she ministered in all aspects of service; preaching, praying, singing and financial support. She worked in textiles all her life. After retirement she continued to work for Hardees and Caroline Nursing Home. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Surely she was a true soldier of God gone home. Known best for her steadfastness to God, folks called on her to pray for them often and she did.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Eason Sr. and her second husband, Murphy Mauldin, one grandson, Jason Eason, step-mom, Irene Johnson; siblings, R.L. Johnson, Jessie Johnson, Frank Johnson, Othor Johnson, sister, Bessie Richardson and one step-brother, Harvey Warlick.
Naomi is survived by her son, James C. Eason Jr. and wife, Kay, daughter, Betty Eason Chambers and husband, Rev. James Chambers; 4 grandchildren, Dennis Eason, Naomi French, Summer McElveen, Brad Chambers; eight grandchildren, Justin, Kayleigh, Cameron and Jalyn Eason, Abbey and Lauren French, Alexis and Veston McElveen; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Souls Harbor Tabernacle, 271 Camp Rotary Rd, Gastonia, NC. Rev. James Chambers, Rev. Chuck Poole, Rev. Eric Quinn, Rev. Mitchell Cook and her son, Jimmy will preside.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Monday, July 6 at the church and other times at her home, 2629 Castle Hill Rd, Gastonia.
Thanks to everyone who helped take care of her for 10 days making sure she was never alone. Thanks to Dr. Clark and staff of TLC for taking such good care of her for the past 8 months; the caregivers from Home Instead, especially Deborah Mayhew and Bernadine Degree who made her feel her life still mattered and encouraged her to go on. Also thanks to the staff of Peak Resources during her short stay there.
This true soldier of the cross body will be laid to rest beside her husband at Gaston Memorial Park until the rapture. See you later, Mom. We love you.
