These are words Nettie Marie (Miller) Pope, 93, of Dallas lived by. Nettie was affectionately known to her family as “Granny.” Nettie loved the Lord, her church and her family. She served her community as a Caregiver for Senior Adults in Gaston County as both a professional and later as a volunteer. She was known for her sweet disposition and her ability to get along with anyone. She will be dearly missed by her family, her church and all that knew and loved her.
Nettie is the daughter of the late Anna Louelle (Barker) and John B. Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Pope, in 1984. She was one of five siblings. All her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death.
Left behind to cherish her memories and to continue her legacy are her daughters Paula Freeman and husband John and Karen Owenby. Missing their Granny dearly are her grandchildren; Paige Odom and husband Jason, Brooke Lineberger and her husband Keith and Ben Owenby. Nettie also leaves behind four Great-Grandchildren.
A celebration of Nettie’s life will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday January 19, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church, 777 S. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia. The family will receive friends from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the church before the service. Pastors Dennis Boyce and Lamar Creel will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends who gather to remember Nettie. Burial will follow the celebration of life service at Gaston Memorial Park, in the Garden of the Apostles, Luke Section.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Nettie’s name to First Assembly of God Church, 777 S. Myrtle School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052
