Rick was a Machinist for Westinghouse now Siemens. He had a passion for home improvement projects.
He was most proud of being an American. He took great pride in serving his country and had the utmost respect for his fellow comrades. During his years of service, he was honored with the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and 1 O/S Bar.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister, Sylvia Kilhberg.
Rick is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Holko; daughter, Debbie McClain and husband Danny of Belmont; grandchildren, Keisha McClain and husband Gee of Charlotte, Donavon McClain and wife Kaytlin of Charlotte and Skylar McClain and husband Tyler of Belmont; great grandchildren, Zyra, Evan, Lily and Emmy Esdelle; nephew, Michael Holko of Atlanta; and brother, Bob Holko.
A visitation for Rick will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park. A committal service, with full military honors, will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
