A testimony of Jesus Christ and a strong faith to the Lord… Richard Luther Pearson, Sr. went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence. Richard was best described by his family as the wisest man they ever knew… A man who was known as a hard worker and who had a mind that allowed him to be a leader in the technical field and inventor who once authored and published several articles in Popular Science with his thoughts in his profession. Richard had a great sense of humor and loved his family dearly. He was always bound and determined to succeed to the end of his life.
"Dad was a man of Wit and Wisdom. He was smart in every sense of the word on many topics of electronics and science. If he didn't know the answer to a question, he would research until he found the answer. He was very much a self-made man, one of a kind to be sure. He seemed tough at times, but was always sensitive to the needs of others. Dad will be missed in this world where perfection in craftsmanship is a rarity. Dad loved to create and build things, He knew how to use tools that most ordinary people would have no idea of how to use. Electronics were his passion. He loved to design and experiment and show others what he built. It was fun learning from him, for he loved to teach and we all loved to listen. We will always remember and miss his jokes, drawings, laughter and wisdom".
He was the son of the late Luther Bryant Pearson and Eleanor Pearl Allison Pearson.
Those left behind to cherish Richard’s memories and carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Norris Pearson; two daughters and sons in law: Cathie and John Butler of Buena Vista, Virginia; Lynda and Kenny Champion of Gastonia, North Carolina; one son and daughter in law: Richard Luther “Rick” Pearson, Jr and Shawna of Merrimack, New Hampshire; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; his special faithful dog and companion Charlie.
