Rita Robinson

A native of Lawrence County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Albert Ferdinand and Lucy Janet Shipman Curtis.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church and worked for Matthew’s Belk for 32 years in the sales audit department.

On March 24, 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William Lee Robinson of the home; son, Arnold Douglas Robinson and his wife, Ida Hall Robinson of Gastonia; grandchildren, Leigh Robinson Kellogg and husband, David Royal Kellogg of Myrtle Beach, SC, Arnold Douglas Robinson Jr. and wife, Mary Susan Lucas of Gastonia; great grandchildren, Thomas Royal Kellogg, Benjamin Douglas Kellogg, both of Myrtle Beach, SC, Andrew Phillip Robinson of Gastonia; sisters, Jessie McDowell of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Mildred Connor and husband, Don of Archer, Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Floyd Curtis; sisters, Grace Sills and Essie Newbern.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Hensley and Rev. A. A. Bailey officiating.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Family Life Center of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.
