

God called Robert Dale Bowman, Sr., age 81, home on Saturday, February 11, 2017 after battling myasthenia gravis for several months. Robert was the son of the late Henry Walton Bowman and Letty Helen Smith Bowman. He was a Godly man, a loving husband, and a great father. After graduating from Bob Jones University in 1964 as a broadcast engineer, he was instrumental in the development of several radio stations. Following his calling to Pensacola Christian College, Robert and family moved to Pensacola, Florida, in 1970, where he started WPCS and eventually a video broadcast, “Rejoice in the Lord”. Robert served the Lord for 32 years at PCC as Chief Engineer.
Those left to cherish Robert’s memories and carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Edmonds Bowman; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lori and Jeff Dukes of Andalusia, Alabama; Jennifer and Roger Ficklin of Charlotte; five sons and daughters-in-law: Bob, Jr. and Jennifer Bowman of Cumming, Georgia; Ken and Donna Bowman of Belmont; Tom Bowman of Winston Salem; Dan Bowman of Pensacola, Florida; David Bowman of Gastonia; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean and Lou Krause of Leesburg, Florida; Margaret and Burdette Juhl of Inverness, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law: James and Barbara Bowman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; twelve grandchildren: Angela Biggs, Cory Dukes, Nathaniel Bowman, Wesley Bowman, Katherine Bowman, Hunter Bowman, Summer Bowman, Olivia Ficklin, Caroline Ficklin, Grace Bowman, Dalton Williams and Autumn Williams; two great grandchildren: Ashlin Biggs and Blaine Stinson.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Cramerton Freewill Baptist Church, 426 Woodlawn Avenue, Cramerton, North Carolina 28032 with Reverend Josh Baer officiating.
The graveside service will follow in the Green Lawn Garden at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.
