She was born in Gaston County on March 26, 1950, to the late Clyde and Helen Auten.
Susie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping, playing Candy Crush, and sewing. Most of all, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When her health allowed, she was a devoted member of New Life Baptist Church in Belmont. She was retired from Billy Graham Library.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, a wonderful mother, and a cherished “Mawmaw” and “Granny.” Her warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in passing by her granddaughter, Courtney Thomas; brothers, Timmy Auten, Tony Auten, Dickie Auten and Bobo Auten; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Bernice Cook; and brother-in-law, Eddie Cook.
