

When he was very young, the family moved to Beaumont during the early days of WWII, living with his maternal grandparents. They stayed in Beaumont until he finished his sophomore year, playing football for French High School. Then, the family moved to Jasper, TX where he attended Jasper High School and was on the football team. This is also where he met the love of his life Sally Seale. They started dating after Sally had a flat tire and A.E. fixed it for a kiss.
They were married in a small ceremony on May 30, 1955 in Austin, TX while both were attending college. They welcomed two daughters, Dusky in 1956 and Catherine in 1957.
A.E. learned to work at a very young age in his grandfather’s grocery store in Beaumont. Other early jobs included working in an ice house, cutting trees for a lumber company, working in other grocery stores and delivering Tastee Bread with his father.
A.E. graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958. During that time, he worked as an assistant to his professor, Dr. McKetta and for Texas Highway Department to put himself through school and to support his family. After graduation, he immediately went to work for Texaco in Research and Development at the refinery in Port Arthur, TX. In 1967, he was transferred to the Texaco corporate offices in New York City. His 35-year career had him traveling the world to included overseas assignments in London and Singapore.
A.E. loved serving his church in various positions and witnessing to others about Christ.
He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, being raised a Master Mason in 1959. He was very active in the fraternity and recently earned his Lifetime Certificate for Proficiency to teach the work.
A.E. loved fishing and hunting (bird and deer), traveling as far as South Dakota to hunt birds with close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Steven and nephew, Andrew Chionsini.
A.E. is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Sally Seale Chionsini; devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Dusky Waters and husband, Dan; Catherine Johnson and husband Don. Grandchildren, Doug Johnson and wife Abby; Melissa Clark and husband Matthew; and Marshall Brown; a whopping 13 great-grandchildren; his sister Jeannine Smith and husband Harold; sister in-law, Marilyn Chionsini; four nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.
A.E. was admired and loved by a great many people, forever affecting their lives. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
