Alma Marie Droll Mixon

Alma Marie Mixon (Droll), 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born on January 27, 1929 on a farm, just outside of Rowena, Texas, to Louis A. and Odelia Droll. Alma attended St. Joseph's Elementary and High School in Rowena, Texas. She continued her education by attending Seton Nursing School in Austin, Texas before marrying in 1948.

As a military family, Alma moved often and lived in Libya, Germany, France, and many locations in the United States while raising six children. Upon retirement Alma and Exley returned to her beloved Texas. Quite a life for a girl from West Texas.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Louis A. and Odelia Droll; brothers Victor Droll and his wife Mary, Reverend Louis J. Droll and Daniel Droll and his wife Kathy. Alma is survived by her beloved husband, Colonel Exley C. Mixon, Jr., USAF (Ret) of Georgetown, Texas: her children, Gerald Mixon, JoAnn Ahlswede, Suzanne Moore, Dennis Mixon, Exley C. Mixon, III, and Timothy Mixon. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown with Father Tom Frank officiating. Interment will be at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Mike Aaronson presiding.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald Mixon, Dennis Mixon, Exley C. Mixon, III, Timothy Mixon, James Mixon, Robert Moore and Timothy Mixon, Jr.
