

Elizabeth "Ann" York Eckols of Granger was born on February 12, 1953 on Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Tx, and died on January 20, 2014 in Georgetown. She was raised in Electra and Clyde, Tx., and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Electra in 1962. Ann graduated from Clyde High School in 1971. After graduation she attended Cisco Jr. College on a band scholarship and marched in the 1971 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. She married the love of her life Joe Eckols on August 18, 1972.
Ann was a very active and compassionate lady. She was a Special Education monitor for the Georgetown ISD Transportation Department until she retired in 1996. She was a Life Member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a Girl Scouts of America Troop Leader. After she retired from GISD, she moved to Granger where she became a member and officer of the Granger Athletic Booster Club. She also enjoyed crafts, water skiing, boating, camping, family travel, and bowling.
The most important thing to her was her family. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight.
She is survived by her loving husband Joe of Granger, her daughters Jessica Diaz (Kevin) of Coleman, Dana Little (Billy) of Granger, her grandchildren Kyle Eckols, Kayla Eckols, Taryn Smith, and Tyler Smith. She is also survived by her brothers Steve York (Darah) of Brownfield, Tx, Ray York of Cisco, Tx, and her sister Sue York of Cisco, Tx.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Loanna (Holder) York and one brother John York.
The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt thanks to Levera Cleveland for her many years of friendship and devotion as a caregiver.
Family will receive guests for the visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown.
A Celebration of Ann's life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Burial will follow at International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Georgetown.
