Katherine Ischy Bradley, affectionately known at “Nanny”, passed away on January 24, 2012 at the age of 100 years, in Round Rock. Katherine was a native Texan, living in Georgetown and Round Rock her entire life. She was born April 10, 1911, near Georgetown, TX to the late Adolph Eugene and Jessie Lee Perry Ischy. Katherine attended Georgetown area schools and worked on the family farm through her younger years. After working in several local area cafes, she found her way to the original Sam Bass Café in downtown Round Rock. While she worked there, she met Eugene W. “Tiny” Bradley, and they were married in 1934 in Georgetown. They resided in downtown Round Rock until 1969, when they moved to their newly built home on Highway 29 West of Georgetown. Tiny passed away in 1970. After his death she operated a child day care center from her home for over 13 years. Katherine saw a great many changes in her 100 years, from the horse and buggy period in rural Georgetown, to having one of the first television sets in Round Rock in 1954. She had a great love of antiques, knitting and flowers. She took great pride in her flowers, working with them long after her stroke in 2001. She loved the outdoors, fishing, bird watching, (hummingbirds were her favorite) and gardening. She also enjoyed playing 42 with other ladies in Round Rock. Katherine was very proud of her family heritage. Her father’s family traced from Switzerland in 1730 immigrating in 1883 to the Georgetown area. Her mother’s family can be traced back to the 8th century in England. Nanny enjoyed Sunday family dinners, Easter picnics, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, where she had the opportunity to greet and visit with old and new family members, catching up on all the news and achievements. Nanny had an excellent memory and could tell you how all the family was related. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 36 years, Eugene W. Bradley “Tiny”; her parents, Adolph Eugene and Jessie Lee Perry Ischy; her two brothers, Thomas Lee Ischy of Burnet, TX and Joseph Ischy of Marques, TX. Nanny leaves behind to cherish her memory and continue her legacy her three children, Bob Bradley and wife Jeri of Round Rock, Fred Bradley and wife Marlene of Thrall, and Mary Katherine Perry and husband Jim of Round Rock; her sister, Mary Jane Perry Gonzales of Liberty Hill, Tx; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, all of whom will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH, Georgetown.
