Carolyn Jean Batt, age 80, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025. Carolyn was born in New Orleans on September 27, 1944 to Louise Pitre Saxton and Travis Hubert Saxton. She was the oldest of four sisters, Billie, Judy, and Brenda.
Carolyn attended and graduated from Alcee Fortier Senior High School in New Orleans. She married Casper Jacob Batt Jr., who was in the US Air Force at the time, on June 8, 1963. Together they had two children, Teresa Ann Batt, and Timothy Jacob Batt.
Carolyn and husband Jake moved to Biloxi, Mississippi near Keesler Air Force Base until he transferred out of Mississippi in 1964. During this time, Carolyn worked part time doing office work for a shoe company. They then moved back to New Orleans, where her daughter Teresa Ann Batt was born in 1965. Later in 1965, they moved to Houston where her son, Timothy Jacob Batt, was born in 1971. Again they moved, a year later, to Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and bought a house. In 1976, the family moved from Canada to Georgetown, Texas, where they bought a house and she lived there until her death.
Carolyn worked a few years for Compton Motors in Georgetown before starting at Rabbit Hill School in Georgetown where she worked for over 30 years, working as both a teacher of the four year olds class and mostly as their Director.
She attended First Methodist Church in Liberty Hill for several years in the early 80s and volunteered at the Liberty Hill Elementary school and with the Girl Scouts.
Her favorite hobby included an intense interest in genealogy for both her Saxton and Batt families.
She most loved being around and cutting up with her people – her children, her students, and grandkids. She loved “going home” to New Orleans to visit family and enjoy family shrimp boils.
She is best known for her innocent, playful sense of humor and the impact she had on thousands of young lives at Rabbit Hill School and the Georgetown community. She loved her school kids and told countless stories of them… and through generations, her students have shared countless, warming stories and memories of her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, Travis Hubert Saxton of New Orleans, LA; her mother, Louise Pitre Saxton of New Orleans, LA; and her sister, Billie Louise Saxton LeBlanc.
She is survived by her husband, Jake Batt of Georgetown, TX; her son, Timothy Jacob Batt and wife Becky Watson Batt of San Antonio, TX; her daughter, Teresa Ann Batt of Jarrell, TX; her sister, Judy and husband Al Boquet of Lumberton, MS; her sister, Brenda and husband Huey Roberts of Bush, LA; and her grandchildren, Isaac Daniel Batt, Jackson Jacob Batt, Kaedon Wesley Batt, and Lily Paige Batt.
