

Charles O. Ray, 75 years of age, passed away on October 12, 2013 in Georgetown, Texas. Chuck was born in Selma, Alabama on September 9, 1938 and attended school there through seventh grade. His family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and he completed high school there. He attended McNeese State University, graduating in 1960. In college he participated in ROTC and upon graduation was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He served two years at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. During this time he married Arnetta Rider of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Following his discharge he began his career with Sears Roebuck which spanned thirty years. His work took him to Chicago, Illinois and New York City, New York and numerous buying trips overseas. After retiring from Sears, Chuck and Arnetta moved to Georgetown, Texas and he made new friends and participated in golf at Berry Creek Country Club.
Chuck was the son of Reverend and Mrs. Byron E. Ray who preceded him in death, as did his brother James.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Arnetta, one daughter, Stacy and husband Steve Shaffer, as well as three grandchildren, Brendan, Ashton, and Peyton. He is also survived by one brother, Richard and wife Dawn, and sister, Betty Johnson.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from one o'clock until two o'clock in the afternoon, on Wednesday, the 16th of October 2013, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, Georgetown, Texas with the funeral service to follow at two o'clock. Graveside services will be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, the 17th of October 2013, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
