Daisy L. Mayes

Daisy Leone Mayes passed away suddenly January 15, 2017. Daisy Leone Ray was born October 31, 1950 in Maryville, Missouri to George and Edna, she was the third of four children. Daisy graduated from Maryville High School and had two sons, Scott and Shane Tumlinson. In the 1980’s Daisy began a career in the grocery business where she met Lowell Mayes, they eventually were married on September 13, 1987 and she became a stepmother to his sons Chris and Walter Mayes.

Daisy was an avid reader, loved to sing, play guitar and birding. A devout Christian she always enjoyed singing hymns and celebrating her lord Jesus Christ. She was known to many for her warm heart, always ready to listen and give you advice that was never sugar coated. One of her favorite jobs was being a grandmother to her six grandchildren and many other kids who came through her door.

Daisy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lowell, her parents George and Edna, brother-in-law Paul Palmer and nephew Bob Palmer.

She is survived by her sisters, Marie Palmer and Dixie Ray; brother, Dale Ray; and sons, Scott Tumlinson and wife April, Shane Tumlinson and wife Michelle, Christopher Mayes and wife Amanda, and Walter Mayes and wife Rebecca. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Devon Dean, Adrianna Mayes, Emma Mayes, Emily Tumlinson, Josiah Mayes and Jilliana Durst. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

There will be a family visitation on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and funeral services will be on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00pm both at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Liberty Hill, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Heerlein, Chris Heerlein, Devon Dean, Spencer Davenport, William Parsons and Stephen Avery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the: American Cancer Society.
