Daniel Lee Dennis

Daniel Lee Dennis, 65, peacefully left this earth at his oldest son Nick’s home in Liberty, Texas, on Friday, August 28, 2015. Mr. D.’s kind and generous spirit will be sorely missed by friends and family. We remember Danny for his big heart and willingness to help anyone. Mr. D.’s affable and compassionate character gave many family friends a reason to call him “Dad”. He carried a permanent smile on his face and greeted everyone with open arms. He listened patiently and took the time to offer advice or find a solution. We will also remember his passions for welding, riding his Indian, and working on old cars, and we’ll miss his artistic ability to envision a project and then create it with his hands. Danny is gone but never forgotten, as he was truly one of a kind.

Dan was born on December 17, 1949 in El Paso, Texas, to his parents Mary Jane Vickers Dennis and Russell Dennis. He met the love of his life, Janet Schurtz Dennis, in El Paso, where they were married. They were residents of Williamson County, Texas, for over 30 years. Danny was founder of Dennis Steel along with his older brother David. In 1999 David moved Dennis Steel to Leander, Texas. Danny stayed at Waters Park Road where he began it all and worked independently as a Master Steel Smith until 2011.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife Janet Lynn on October 22, 2013 and his youngest son Kevin Casey on October 28, 2014. Left to cherish his memories are his oldest son Nicholas Russell Dennis and wife Michelle Dennis, and precious granddaughter Emma Claire Dennis of Liberty, Texas, his brothers Robert Edwin Dennis of Bertram, Texas, and David Russell Dennis of Leander, Texas.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 2:00 PM with the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 PM. Services will be at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Celebrant Kyle McFather will be officiating.
