Dena Marie Cox

She was born Dena Marie Melton on October 3rd, 1950 as the only child to parents Homer and Anna in Montebello, California. After graduating from El Rancho High School, she went on to study dental assisting, office management, and data processing. She held numerous employment positions namely project administrator, senior accounting clerk, and escrow coordinator.

She married Donald C. Stetson in 1971 and gave birth to her only child, Scott Stetson, in July of 1973. She remarried Walter T. Cox in 1984 and resided in Whittier, California. She was a devoted and protective mother. As a widow, she moved to El Paso, TX in 2013 to be near her son Scott, daughter-in-law Kelly, and grandchildren Paige and Cole Stetson. She again relocated in 2024 to remain close to family in Georgetown, TX.

Dena had a profound interest in genealogy and the pursuit of family history. She was a firm believer in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She meticulously guarded and compiled historical and “secret” family recipes. She loved to peruse cookbooks, investigate culinary gadgets, and experiment with new concoctions. She had a love of animals and took in many rescue dogs and neighborhood feral cats.

A visitation for Dena will be held Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Our Lady Of The Rosary Cemetery, 330 Berry Lane, Georgetown, Texas 78626.
