

Edward Quinton Bond, age 91, beloved husband of Ronna for nearly 65 years, died on June 21, 2025. He was born in Los Angeles on April 2, 1934, the son of James F. Bond of Philadelphia, PA and Vera E. (Ayer) Bond of Calais, ME.
After his father died in 1938, the family moved to the Los Angeles suburb of El Monte. In 1943, his mother became ill and Ed and his brothers were placed in McKinley Home for Boys in Van Nuys, CA and his sisters in foster care. After his older half brother, a paratrooper was killed in WWII, his family was reunited in 1946 at their maternal grandmother’s home in Calais, ME.
Growing up in Calais, Ed was active in the Boy Scouts, served three years in the Maine National Guard, graduated with honors from Calais Memorial High School, served three years in the Army including a year in Korea. While a student at the University of Texas in Austin, Ed worked as a TV home service technician at his brother Bob’s business, Bond’s Television Service in Austin, TX.
In 1960, Ed married the love of his life, Ronna Lee Ericson of Georgetown, TX. After obtaining a BS in Aerospace Engineering from UT, Ed worked for Chance Vought Aircraft in Dallas, TX before accepting an Aeronautical Engineering position with Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA. At Lockheed, Ed did important work on several aircraft programs including the L-1011 commercial transport and the F-117A stealth fighter. Ed retired from Lockheed Martin Skunk Works as an Aerodynamics Research Scientist in April, 1999.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed many wonderful times with his family including annual visits to Yosemite, Zion or other national parks, ski trips to Mammoth Mountain, CA, trips to visit family in Texas, and swimming at Zuma Beach, CA. He played tennis weekly, was a capable do-it-yourselfer, loved model trains, genealogy, and was active in his church for much of his life.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Ronna, daughters Tamera MacKenzie (Mark) of San Antonio, TX, Vanessa Vonderau (Mark) of Valencia, CA, and Lauren Sinclair (Robert) of Saugus, CA, 12 grandchildren Michael, Kristin, Allison, Brayden, Ashlynn, Barrett, Keiffer, Kalista, Brody, Cory, Laci, and Lexi, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Bond of Austin, TX and sister, Shirley Groves of Newington, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his half brother Raymond W. Slocomb, sister Dorothy Welsh, and husband, John of Arlington, TX, brother James Bond, and wife, Barbara, of Round Rock, TX, brother-in-law, Richard Groves and sister-in-laws, Georgie Bond & LaRue Bond.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas.
